In just a few decades, the Flemish potato-processing industry has developed into the largest exporter of precooked potato products in the world. So original Belgian fries can be enjoyed all over the world. In 2022 no less than 3.4 million tonnes of processed potatoes were exported.
6.2 million tonnes potatoes were processed into a wide range of potato products in Belgium in 2022: fresh and frozen fries, mashed potato products, crisps, granules, flakes, etc.
